SPIRIT OF THE WOODS FLUTES

Sitting
Bull (Tatanka Iyotake),
Hunkpapa Sioux
Perhaps the most famous of all Native Americans, Sitting Bull was
a spiritual and military leader of the Great Sioux Nation. He led
his people in their resistance to give up their lands to the US
Government, giving them hope in a future where they could live
their own ways in peace. |

Sitting
Bull Flute
I made this flute to honor a man who’s weapons could
be taken and broken but who’s Spirit could never be broke.
This gorgeous instrument is very unique. The Drone Flute
is made of Pommele Sapele with Cocobolo laminations and finger
plugs. I chose these woods not only for their beauty
but also for the tonal warmth. The Blocks are the Triple
P blocks made from Elephant Ivory* with
a cocobolo base. I chose to use Ivory not only for it’s
beauty but because it symbolizes strength. The Inlay
is of Sitting Bull and a Broken Arrow. Sitting Bull and
the Broken Arrow were both inlayed using Mount
St. Helens volcanic ash. I chose to use the volcanic
ash to not only give the art work a sense of age but because
it represents to me a part of this Earths Spirit.
This Drone Flute is finely concert tuned to the key of mid.
E and has a wonderfully warm voice. It is an exceptional
instrument! |

* Note: I
purchase pre-banned Elephant Ivory from a legal
source. By law, I can only sell flutes with Elephant
Ivory to people that live in the USA. People
that have Elephant Ivory inlays, laminations,
etc. on their flute must not, by law, take them
out of the country. |
